A Bright and Nurturing Environment

Our bright and spacious rooms provide your little one with a safe, stimulating environment filled with fun activities and age-appropriate toys. Our daily routine and weekly schedule are designed to support each child’s individual needs and developmental progress.

Outdoor play is an essential part of our day. Children enjoy our beautiful playground, and we also have strollers available for walks around the building, allowing fresh air and exploration.

Parents can expect daily communication from our teachers, who keep you updated on your child’s eating, sleeping, and toileting habits to ensure you’re always informed.

Our routine includes a variety of activities to promote development, such as gross motor skill building, STEM exploration, multicultural awareness, outdoor play, and much more — all designed to foster growth and curiosity.

19 months to less than 3 years (Toddlers)

Toddler Program: Supporting a Smooth Transition and Growth

Our toddler program is designed to help children transition smoothly and healthily from home to preschool. Through a variety of learning experiences, toddlers develop basic routines and important social skills while exploring creativity and imagination through play and visual arts.

In the toddler room, children learn and explore in a safe, stimulating environment tailored to their needs. Weekly activities are thoughtfully planned to spark each child’s interests and encourage exploration, learning, and independence. With child-sized furniture, toddlers are supported in developing self-help skills like eating independently.

We provide a nutritious breakfast and hot lunch each day. Every child has their own cot to ensure restful sleep during daily nap times. Our caring staff guide children in developing healthy habits, including proper eating, dressing, and personal hygiene skills.

As communication becomes increasingly important, toddlers are encouraged to build language skills through songs, stories, and interactive games. Circle time is designed to be engaging and participatory, helping expand vocabulary and expressive language.

Sensory exploration is a key part of our curriculum, with activities such as sand and water play. Age-appropriate educational toys introduce toddlers to foundational concepts like colors, shapes, numbers, and sizes.

Outdoor play includes an age-appropriate playground with slides, ropes, stairs, riding toys, balls, and a sandbox—providing ample opportunity for physical development and fun.

Parents receive daily reports on their child’s meals, nap times, and overall day, keeping families connected and informed.

3 Years to 4.5 Years (Pre-School)

Preschool Program: Preparing for the Next Step

Designed for children transitioning from toddlerhood to school age, our preschool program offers more group time and creative activities to support continued growth and development. Building on the toddler curriculum, our program focuses on language, arts, math, science, and movement to prepare your child for their next learning adventure.

At Glenridding Early Learning Centre, preschoolers have the freedom to choose from a variety of play and planned activities. Learning centres are available throughout the day, allowing children to explore and practice skills through play, such as:

  • Science/Sensory Centre: Exploring, predicting, and problem-solving

  • Creative Arts Centre: Experimenting with cutting, painting, drawing, and gluing

  • Spatial Learning: Understanding concepts like on, under, and near to reinforce knowledge of shapes, colors, and sizes

  • Dramatic Play Centre: Acting out real-life scenarios such as visiting the doctor, family activities, and shopping

Weekly posted activities follow engaging themes and teach important concepts including numbers, letters, shapes, colors, sequencing, and patterns. Children are encouraged to recognize, name, and trace letters and numbers. Interactive circle time promotes expressive language development through songs, stories, and games.

Preschoolers enjoy outdoor play on age-appropriate structures, with nutritious breakfast and hot lunches provided daily. Quiet rest or sleep time is also part of the routine to help children recharge.

4.5 years to 6 years (Kindergarten)

Kindergarten Program: Building Academic Foundations

Our kindergarten program focuses on developing children’s academic skills through a variety of engaging activities. Using both group and individual projects, children expand their abilities in mathematics, science, music, visual arts, drama, language, and social skills.

At Glenridding Early Learning Centre, staff guide children in applying these skills to reading, writing, and basic mathematics through daily routines and hands-on learning.

Children enjoy choices of play within our learning centres—science/sensory, creative arts, books, and dramatic play—complemented by a curriculum designed to prepare them for first grade. Weekly program plans include activities that promote writing, reading, and math skills such as recognizing and printing uppercase and lowercase letters, writing words and simple sentences, counting to 100, and practicing addition and subtraction.

Our curriculum also covers essential vocabulary, colors, numbers, shapes, days of the week, months of the year, and incorporates simple phrases, songs, and games to enhance learning in a fun and interactive way.

The program includes access to an outdoor playground with age-appropriate equipment and scheduled outdoor playtimes twice daily, weather permitting. Nutritious breakfast and snacks are provided, and quiet activities help children recharge throughout the day.

Parents receive weekly reports summarizing their child’s activities and accomplishments. Additionally, our program includes a “Group Reading” component where children learn to recognize sight words, forming the foundation for reading and writing success.

6 years to 12 years (Out of School Care)

Afterschool Program: Enhancing Academic and Social Skills

Our afterschool program focuses on developing children’s academic skills through a variety of activities. Using both group and individual projects, children build their abilities in mathematics, science, music, visual arts, drama, language, and social skills. Daily routines guide children in applying these skills to reading, writing, and basic math.

Children have choices to play and learn in different centres—including science/sensory, creative arts, books, and dramatic play—alongside an academically focused curriculum. Weekly plans feature activities that encourage writing sentences and paragraphs, performing basic arithmetic, and advancing elementary-grade skills through educational games.

Physical activity is a key part of our program. Weather permitting, children enjoy outdoor playtime once a day on our playground, engaging in various games to stay active and healthy.

Nutritious snacks are provided daily, and quiet activities offer time for rest and reflection. At the end of each week, parents receive a summary of their child’s activities and accomplishments.

The program also includes a “Group Reading” component designed to strengthen children’s reading and writing skills in a supportive environment.
